Specifications
The Giulia is powered by a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, although the top-spec Quadrifoglio uses a 503bhp 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 which features developments by Ferrari. In the normal range, there’s 2.0-litre petrol with either 197bhp or 276bhp or the 2.2-litre diesel with 158bhp or 187bhp. All cars are rear-wheel drive and while European markets have the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox, all UK cars come with 8-speed auto.
Performance and drive
The Giulia combines a smooth, fluent ride with wonderfully balanced handling. The driver’s seat is set low and allows you to adopt a sporty position in front of a steering wheel with plenty of adjustment. All models have lane departure warning as standard, while adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, a rear parking camera and autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian protection are all optional. As standard, there are 17-inch alloys, while Speciale trim is identified by its larger 18-inch rims, twin-exit exhausts and Xenon lights.
Interior
The Giulia interior has a stylish and sporty feel, where good quality materials and slick design, meet stunning dials and a great steering wheel. Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity become standard, as do bi-xenon headlights. Models from 2020 onward have their own wi-fi hotspot.
All Giulia’s get an 8.8in colour infotainment screen that’s controlled by the rotary dial mounted between the front seats. The infotainment screen can be operated either as a touchscreen or via an iDrive-like rotational switch just behind the new leather-covered gear lever.
