The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by the Alfa Romeo subdivision of Stellantis. It was first revealed at 2016 and is currently Alfa Romeo’s best-selling model, with over 10,000 sold by 2021.
Distinguished under the bonnet with a range of all-aluminium block engines, all available with a state of the art ZF 8-speed automatic transmission for maximum efficiency, performance and comfort. There is 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel, each offered in a choice of two power outputs.
Specifications
The Sprint models come with a 197bhp petrol unit, or a 187bhp diesel engine, while the Veloce benefits from a higher-powered 207bhp diesel and 276bhp petrol. The Veloce Ti is paired solely with the 276bhp petrol engine. At the top of the range, the 503bhp Stelvio Quadrifoglio features a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 with a four-wheel drive.
Performance and drive
The sporty Italian SUV follows in the footsteps of the excellent Giulia saloon; great to drive, with strong engines and steering. With a firm ride and great handling, you’ll have to turn the wheel very little to negotiate tight corners. At high speeds, the sports-oriented suspension deals with crests and compressions with finesse. Every Stelvio has an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard, that reacts immediately when you want a sudden burst of acceleration. Combined with the four-wheel-drive system, it makes for an incredibly fast and secure performance car.
Interior
The interior design is attractive with a leather-lined gear lever and expensively trimmed centre console, which all contribute to a premium feel. Depending upon the model and option packs you go for, the interior can be made even smarter and more charming with real metal and wood inlays. There’s also a huge choice of optional leather seat upholstery, from traditional black to sporty red and stylish tan.
Easy and intuitive, the infotainment system is completely redesigned and equipped with an 8.8″ Multi-Touch display. Multi-touch screen or remotely via the My Alfa Connect mobile app. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are now standard, as is a rear-view camera, with Bi-xenon headlights also added to the kit list.
