The Seat Ateca has been redesigned, and it owes much of its success to solid foundations, it’s an absolute gem. The same great SUV has now been upgraded with new equipment, immersive technology and handy accessories to meet your every need. The 10.25” SEAT Digital Cockpit now shows three different displays so you can keep an eye on everything you need to. Cosmetic revisions include a revised radiator grille, new LED headlamps and a pair of redesigned fog lamps.
The SEAT Ateca was unveiled as a production vehicle on 1 March 2016 in Barcelona. It is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Spanish automaker SEAT. As the brand’s first SUV offering, it sits in the C-SUV segment, above the Arona and below the Tarraco.
An updated interior and many tech revisions mean the popular Seat Ateca is now better than ever. Ateca buyers have a choice of four petrol and two diesel engines. Gearbox options are a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic. Diesel: 113bhp 2.0 TDI 115 and 148bhp 2.0 TDI 150.
The petrol range starts with a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit, 108bhp, 0-62mph in 11.4, then there is the mid-range 148bhp 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (1.5 TSI EVO 150) reaching 0-62mph in 9.3sec. The 2.0 TSI 190 petrol, comes as standard with four-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that reach 0-62mph in 7.1sec. There’s also the performance-focused 300bhp Cupra Ateca.
Performance and drive
The Ateca is good to drive and surprisingly fun on bends due to precise steering and decent body control – if you like driving and want to buy a family SUV in this price bracket, the Ateca should be at the top of your list. It is often compared to the VW Tiguan.
Interior
The facelifted Ateca comes with a leather steering wheel, updated door cards and a choice of new upholstery designs in the fabric; microsuede or leather. FR Sport models and above get a 10.25-inch digital instrument binnacle as standard. The old SE Technology has been transferred, and the large infotainment screen is easy to use and looks sharp, at least, and whichever Ateca model you pick, you get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
